Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the naturally occurring peptide tuftsin. In research settings, it demonstrates anxiolytic, nootropic, and neuroprotective properties, largely through modulation of serotonin and dopamine receptor activity. Studies have explored its potential roles in enhancing cognition, reducing stress, and regulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis in laboratory models. In vitro findings also indicate that Selank may affect the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factors (BDNF), supporting neural plasticity and synaptic connectivity.
